drives to 3.5 bays (requires other hardware). The price was right, the shipping cost was reasonable and the adapter arrived ahead of scheduled delivery. This is great for ghosting or copying hard drives as well as being able to convert 2.5 in.
Other than that, it's like an unstylish car - it might not be a pretty accessory and it may have a quirk or two somewhere (which I haven't discovered yet), but for the most part it's uncomplicated and reliable. It does what it is supposed to do and is fairly simple to use. The only (albeit slight) complaint I have is that the pins bend fairly easily.
Transferred this jumper to the designated pins on the NB drive and the system booted faultlessly. With this simple and inexpensive adapter I installed the HDD from my deceased IBM NoteBook in my desktop PC in minutes. One tip: the NB drive needs to be configured as a slave by jumpering a couple of pins - a label on the drive shows which ones (not sure if this is the same for all NB drives but I suspect so). There was no jumper included with the adapter, but when I opened up my desktop PC there was a suitable jumper on the socket of main HDD.
two thumbs up. I would definitely recommend this product to other PC users. the product works great for its intended use. The Kinamax ADP-IDE23 Laptop 2.5-Inch to Desktop 3.5-Inch IDE Hard Drive Adapter Converter does exactly what it was advertised to do; which is enable me to use my notebook hard drive in my desktop.
The item arrived in a box full of bubble wrap but no directions. Still, I can never get the 3 hours I wasted on this thing back so it was kind of an expensive failure. This item is garbage. The item is so cheap that it's not worth returning. It didn't destroy my hard disk though and it still works fine in the laptop. I tried every jumper configuration possible without shorting it to ground via the dreaded "never do this" position. I could not get the drive to be recognized.
